Get Registered for These Teen Programs!

On Thursday, July 3 at 2:30, we'll be having a Young Adult Craft! Get crafty and decorate a frisbee!

On Monday, July 7th at 7 PM, we'll be having a new program! Teen DDR Night. The library just got some gaming equipment, so come to be the first to test it out! We'll be playing Dance Dance Revolution and having snacks.

Both programs are open to Young Adults ages 10 and up. Please register at the Youth Services Desk so we know how many people to expect!

YA Book Disc. Group

The group got together on Fri. June 20 to discuss Escape! The Story of the Great Houdini by Sid Fleischman. Overall the group liked the interesting bio on the world's most famous magician, and liked all the cool old photos included in the book. Next meeting will be on Fri. Aug 1, when we'll discuss The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart. If you are interested in joining, just stop by the Youth Services Desk to get a copy of the book. See you then!!

GET IN THE GAME and join the Summer Reading Program!

The annual Summer Reading Program starts Saturday, June 7th running through Friday, August 2nd. The theme this year is Get in the Game, and we'll be having lots of programs for teens throughout the summer! To participate, just stop in the library, register, and read! You'll earn prizes and be able to attend the Summer Reading Pool Party on Saturday, August 3, as long as you are accompanied by a parent. Some upcoming programs you should sign up for and come to include:

We'll be discussing the magically interesting book Escape! The Story of the Great Houdini by Sid Fleischman. Want to learn the interesting backgroud of the world's most famous magician? Stop by the Youth Services Desk to pick up a copy of the book and come to our book discussion.

Teen Advisory Group Pizza Party

On Thursday, May 22, we had the last TAG Meeting of the school year, which was also our pizza party! 14 members of the group came, and along with scarfing pizza the teens elected officers for the group. This is a new thing for next year, perviously we functioned without 'official' leadership.

TAG End of the Year Pizza Party

All TAG members are invited to the end of the year pizza party on Thursday, May 22 at 7 PM. In addition to pizza, we'll be karoaking to celebrate the end of the school year! Hope to see you there!!

Arguing Again

The Teen Debates for May was held on Wednesday, May 14th. The teens debates such topics as bottld water vs. tap, and a photographer from the Southtown Star was there snapping pictures! We hope to see the pics in the Neighbrohood Star section of the paper some Thursday soon. Though it was the last Debates for this school year, we'll be coming back and arguing some more this fall. If you are interested in joining, let us know!!

Young Adult Book Discussion Group

The group met for it's end of the school year pizza party and to discuss Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins on May 9th. A few members of the group LOVED the book, and said part of why it is so good is the subsequent books in the series, with the 6th book to be released shortly. A couple other members of the group were only lukewarm in their review. By the end of the meeting the pizza was gone, and we'll be meeting on Friday, June 20th @ 3:30 PM to discuss Escape!
